Sod Off is a companion album to 2010.

It was never my intention that 2010 should have a companion album. It soon became clear, though, that the flippancy of the original concept did not fully reflect the reality of the year.

Things didn’t start well. I had my head kicked in in February and was signed off work with concussion. Strangely, my boss at the time didn’t believe me or the doctor, and made things difficult; I ended up, for the only time in my entire working life, on some kind of disciplinary thing. I don’t know why. Nothing came of it.

Even so, that was nothing compared to the utter shit that followed.

Some time around July or August, I’d pretty much had enough of the awfulness of the year, and wished that 2010 could just sod off.

Music is my therapy. I took inspiration from the downward spiral (of life, not the Nine Inch Nails album) and decided to re-interpret some of my bollocks from the year so far and create a new album that better represented the total bollocks that 2010 was turning out to be. I didn’t set rules for this one, it was just going to be one big Sod Off to a terrible year.

Bad things continued to happen. It was an awful year for so many people. Sod Off doesn’t help, and will never make 2010 seem better, but it is a good documentary record of how I was feeling.

In line with 2010, Sod Off has twelve tracks. Some of the tracks reference themes from the monthly tunes on 2010.

Sod Off doesn’t have a cover as it was never supposed to be released. At best, it would have beem offered as a companion to 2010 if anyone was interested. If it was to have a cover, it would have been this picture of Wayne wearing his Sod Off cone. Wayne was taken from us in September of 2010.
